Black Milk Clothing

Black Milk Clothing - 'Wallpaper' limited addition dress

I recently bought this gorgeous dress from Black Milk Clothing and I love it! Its the 'Wallpaper' limited addition dress but I think it may be sold out now. However, I have heard that they are doing a 'inverted wallpaper' version also available as leggings too!

I also can't help to brag but I was shocked to see they featured this picture on their Facebook page aswell, I felt very flattered with some of the comments posted on it!

If you haven't heard on Black Milk, I recommend you do check out their garments. They originally started out creating leggings, but have progressed onto dresses, swimsuits and skirts.
The quality is amazing and will make any figure look good as the fit is very good.

The downside is that they are a little pricey. This 'Wallpaper' dress cost be £70 and the 'Blue Galaxy Dress' (featured below) is was £50. As the brand is Australian and made over there the price did go up due to £10 shipping. I did get my dress in a week though, so I was pleased with that.

I do think even though the price is higher than most high street garments, Black Milk is definitely a must have. I'd rather spend a little extra to get a good quality, amazing fit and unique garment that not many people have compared to a Topshop dress any day.

Its my Twentieth birthday on the 9th May so I'll probably be wearing my new dress out!

MAC Lipsticks

Seeming as I have just started up this blog, I want whoever reads it to know a bit about me.
One of my obsessions (and my bank accounts hates) is lipsticks.
I especially love MAC lipsticks. The reason why I always choose MAC (though I have yet to try Illamasqua as I hear they are very good) is because the quality is amazing. Some of the lipsticks I have purchased from MAC barely want to come off when I use a make up wipe.

As the prices of MAC lipsticks are £13.50, some may think that is a ridiculous amount to pay when you could easily buy a cheap, nice coloured one from Boots. However, these lipsticks are stocked in a array of colours with different finishes such as matte finishes to sheer, long wearing and moisturising.
I have bought about 11 lipsticks from them since I was aged 17 and only just running out of my favorite lipstick 'Russian Red'.

I've decided to show my four most favorite shades and explain why!

May I add, that it is very important to condition your lips first before applying; always use a lip balm before use (I find Carmex is very good for this) and if your lips are dry try a lip scrub aswell (Lush do a really good one, and comes in yummy flavours so try not to eat it!)

For a perfect finish, lining your lips is possible helps. If you have not got a lipliner to match the shade then buy a small lip brush and gently dab the colour of choice on first around the lip line.
After applying the lipstick, make sure you dab off the excess with tissue and if you do not want your lipstick to run or last longer (a.k.a kiss proof) I recommend you buy Lipcote which is available at most drug stores.

The first lipstick I am going to talk about is 'Kinda Sexy' which is a Matte finish. I love this lipstick as a daytime shade. It also looks great with lip balm on top if you don't want a bold look. I think this shade will go with any skin tone very well, as I'm pale the rose pink shade compliments my extremely pale face!

Next up is my first ever MAC lipstick, that my Boyfriend chose weirdly enough! Its called Rebel and is a Satin finish. It looks very pink on these photos but is actually more of a purple, which is great as it can seem very purple in one light and pink in another. It's definitely a going out shade as its bold and bright. Again, this colour would suit different skin tones well. I think it looks better on me when I have a tan, I can imagine this shade looking amazing on dark skin.

Russian Red (Matte) is one of my favorite shades of all time, it makes me feel so good when I wear it for some reason. Must give me confidence! I believe every girl (or boy) should have a signature red lipstick in their bag and with Russian Red being one of MAC's most popular shades, this one is definitely a winner for me.

Musky Amethyst (Frost) is my favorite shade to wear when I am in my 'goth' mood, which usually happens in winter time. I am a girly girl, who does like to wear dark clothes and this shade is perfect as its beautiful dark purple with a soft shine.

Sorry for the long post! Hope you enjoyed it!

Nail Polish Review: Models Own 'Indian Ocean'

I've been really looking forward to trying one of the Models Own Beetlejuice collection ever since it came out last year. When the summer ones came out this year, Indian Ocean took my eye.
However, I am a little disappointed as I thought this nail varnish would be opaque. Indian Ocean was however very thin and very translucent and would not be even worth me trying to layer it up as the whole bottle would have probably been used!
But when I decided to use it over a light blue colour I really liked it, I painted one coat of 17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish in Mint Choc Chip and layered it with two coats of Indian Ocean, my nails looked lovely as the blue would shine in one light and pink in the other.

Overall, if you are interested in buying this nail polish make sure you have a light blue nail varnish to have underneath and you will love it!

After two coats of Models Own 'Indian Ocean' over the blue nail polish

Finished product, with fimo and top coat

I decided to apply some fimo pieces to one nail just to jazz my nails up a bit!
They are really cheap off eBay and you get loads.
All you have to do is cut a thin slice of the chosen pattern and stick on with nail glue!

Dip Dye Nails!

After last year, Dip Dye is everywhere and I love it. Infact i love it so much I have had ombre hair since September!
I found this super easy way of creating this dip dye effect on your nails using a simple washing up sponge (new of course!)

You'll need:
(L-R: Rimmel 5in1 Base and Top Coat, Topshop 'Minted', Topshop 'Jewel in the crown', Models Own Wah Nail Art pen which is optional)

Simply paint your nails in a light coloured nail varnish after the base coat is dried, I used Topshop 'Minted' as its a lovely mint green pastel which is suited well for spring. Then pour a slight bit of the dark nail varnish on paper and dab the sponge in the paint. Then slight dab off the excess on the paper and dab on your nails to get the dip dye effect you want.

I also decided to add a leopard print aswell but have also done another version shown below without leopard :)

Hi there!

Apologies to anyone who started reading/following this blog for me abandoning this project!
Now I have nearly finished my second year of university, it is my main focus to get this blog looking good and regularly posting.
I've started this blog up as a hobby/something for my CV.
I'm hoping to put up my 'achievements' on here, such as DIY projects, nail art and fashion reviews.
Anyway, here is a few short facts about myself before posting my general doings and ideas!

  • My full name is Laura Elizabeth Ferguson-Lee
  • I was born on the 9th May 1992 thus making me Nineteen years of age
  • I am in my second year of University at Manchester Metropolitan University and I study Fashion Materials and Technology
  • I currently reside in Manchester but I am from a small town in the Derbyshire Dales (the closest city to it is Sheffield)
  • I have loved fashion since I was young and originally decided at the age of 9 that I wanted to be a fashion designer but have realised since College that I would rather go into a different field of fashion....maybe merchandising!
  • My hobbies include: doing my nails, being a full time cat lover and obviously shopping (such a girl, I know!)
  • I have been with my boyfriend Warren since December 2009 and we have a long distance relationship when we're at Uni, as he studies in Hull! Meaning that a lot of my loan is spent on train fares!
  • My school friends are still my closest friends til date and I have made some amazing friends at Uni. I love them all.
  • Overall, my life is pretty fab at the moment. My wishes for the next academic year is to pass my degree and hopefully get a job!
