September Joliebox

It's Joliebox time, yay!
It's like having a christmas every month, so I look forward to this time greatly.
Sorry this review is a bit late but being back in Manchester my Joliebox subscription is delivered to my parents house back in Derbyshire.
Luckily my lovely Mum sent it up to my house in Manchester, so lets begin!

I love... Face Mask
'A moisturising & reviving face mask with yummy fruit extracts for all skin types'

When I first saw that this product was for all skin types, I was quite confused. Could this be a miracle product?! My skin changes from normal to combination in most seasons and then mainly can be dry in the Winter.
I like the fact that it smells of coconut cos I am a sucker for anything coconut, but I was put off by the alcohol content as alcohol as we know is make the skin very dry.
However, I'll look forward to trying this later.

Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion
'This best selling lotion controls hair for naturally straight results, whilst providing heat protection and banishes frizz'

This product really jumped out for me, mainly cos its Redken which is a well known brand and that its a straightening lotion and I have been looking for ages for a good one as my hair is naturally curly/wavy and I like to straighten my hair a lot.
It is designed for medium hair and as my hair is long and thick it might not do the job as well but hopefully it will!
Really excited to try this out later and I love how much product you get for a tester!

Twistband Hair Tie
'A twistband to keep your pleats, buns and ponytails secured without leaving bumps in your hair afterwards'

I wasn't overly fussed about receiving this, when I tie my hair up I use any hair bobble I find lying around!
I tried these out and they are okay, its good that you can re tie them to suit your hair thickness or use them in different ways.
Not personally my favourite product this month but still a good idea.

Dr Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant
'A marine based exfoliant to smooth, cleanse, brighten and renew tired skin'

I've never heard of Dr Bragi, but then I went on the Dr Bragi website and I was wowed by the products. The full size version of this product is £25 (however, Joliebox are offering a 20% discount) and has raving reviews.
Hopefully this will help get rid of my fake tan thats wearing off and it will be interesting to see how good this product is compared to my favourite Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub!

Balmi Lip Balm
'A lip balm containing SPF 15 to moisturise your lips and provide protection from harmful UVA rays'

I have been waiting to try one of these for ages! I nearly bought one at Boots for £4 so I'm so glad I got one in a Joliebox!
Balmi is like the famous EOS lip balms that are sold in the USA and not in the UK though I think you can get them off websites.
The lip balm is not one of those that you have to dip your finger in, which I love!
I have the strawberry version and it smell so nice and really does moisturise my lips.
Definitely worth the price at Boots and comes in many different scents.

My favourite Blogger/YouTuber Sammi from Beauty Crush is in this months JolieMag!
Just thought to say a quick shout out as I love her and if it wasn't for one of her competitions, I wouldn't have a 12 year free subscription to Joliebox, so thank you!

What did you think to this months Joliebox? I personally think it was quite a good one!

Another Update...

Hi everyone!
So, I've been a bad blogger again, and I feel so bad as I love blogging but I have simply not had the funds to do any interesting posts (which isn't just a factor!).
I've also been busy moving back to Manchester to start my third and final year of University! I am getting older and its daunting!
I've had so much work given to me already, that I've been stressing.
But I've had a sit down, planned how I am going to schedule my work, my social life and my blog!
I've also spent a little A LOT of my student loan (woops) and actually have nice new clothes and new beauty products which I can't wait to share on here!

I hope you're all good and I really appreciate the followers I have on here still! This isn't a popular blog but just having one follower make me really appreciative! :D

August Joliebox Review

Dr Bronners Magic All-One Soap
I'm not really fussy about soaps, usually when I buy them they are on offer so this was an interesting tester! I am however interested by organic and fair trade products so I did like the idea about these. I've only tried the light blue one so far which is 'baby-mild' so doesn't really smell of anything but made my hands feel super soft after.

So Susan Wide Awake Palette
This was my favourite product in this month's Joliebox. I really like trying out different products of my eyebrows, from just using a pencil, just eyeshadow or even both (crazy, I know). The colours in this are perfect for my skin tone and hair colour. I have quite ash brown eyebrows but my hair is auburn on top now. The colours help me find the perfect in between shade of ash brown and red brown.
Still not sure on illuminating and highlighting cream, still need to try it out more.
However, great little palette!

So Susan Lip Cushion
I started loving the eyebrow palette and then really disliking this product! I am a lover of trying it out different lip balms and lip treatments, but this one really wasn't for me.
Unfortunately, it reminded of one of those free lip balms you used to get from kids magazines! It smells of a sickly strawberries and has glitter in it.
Apart from that, I looked past the smell and appearance of the product and ventured on to actually trying out.
It didn't really seems to do much, I thought it would tint my lips like Vaseline's Rose and Almond lip tin but didn't really do that at all. On the box it also said that it would treat chapped lips but didn't do that either (sticking to Carmex for that job!).
So, overall not really good at all!

Leather Hair Lace
I don't really do much with my hair (I usually just have it up by a bobble or down) so I thought I'd try this out. However, it didn't come with any instructions of how to use the lace in hairstyles so I googled some ideas and well...it just didn't seem to work! Maybe, its just me, but I really don't see the point of it!

Phil Smith Dry Clean Dry Shampoo
I'm surprised that I actually like the smell of this dry shampoo as its heavily scented, but for some reason it seemed to go well!
It definitely does the job of refreshing hair and is in a handy size for my handbag.
Not sure if I'd buy it again because I rarely use dry shampoo and happy with buying 3 for a £1 at Poundland!

Hope you enjoyed that quick review if you are interested in subscribing to Joliebox, I won a subscription last month for a year thanks to Sammi a.k.a BeautyCrush! Overall, this wasn't as good compared to last month (which I forgot to review!) but really looking forward to September's Joliebox!

What's in my bag!

For some reason I really like what's in your bag posts, not sure why....think I maybe just nosey!
So, I decided to show you what's in my bag, as today I'm ill so I thought it would be a good blog post to do whilst feeling sorry for myself!

Bag: My bag was bought as a birthday present from my boyfriend in May from Nasty Gal. Its really deep so I can fit a lot of stuff I don't need in it!

Glasses: Most people don't know I wear glasses (I'm short sighted so I need them for driving, watching tv etc). After needing glasses since I was 16 and having the same pair since til the age of twenty. I finally bought some new frames! These Ray Ban numbers where literally the only glasses in the shop that suited me!

iPhone: To be honest this isn't usually in my bag....it's usually in my hand!

Purse: My Boyfriend got me this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood purse for my 19th birthday last year, and a year and a bit later its not looking shabby at all.

Sunglasses: My Dad got me these Ray Ban wayfarers when he travelled to America (he stays there a lot) and they live in my bag in the hope of sunshine!

Chewing gum: Got to have fresh breath, init?!

Camera and camera case: Obviously the camera was in use to take this picture, but the case is from Cath Kidston as I have a tendency to break cameras for some reason. Hence, why my brother won't let me touch his SLR.

Powder: I have the MAC select sheer compact just for touch ups, NC20 if you're wondering.

Key: Best thing about my house key is the Paul Frank Julius monkey key ring, looking a bit tatty as I've had it for 5 years!

Lipstick: I've always got a MAC lipstick on me, preferably a nude for daytime such as Kinda Sexy or Shy Girl!

There you have it, my lame post of today because I'm bed ridden!
Hope you're all not ill and having a good day!

What are your essentials for your bag?

Update + eBay

Hi guys, hope you're well!

I just thought to do a quick post to explain while I've been M.I.A recently.
I know I only have a few followers (who I all appreciate!) but I love this blog and don't do it for the followers or freebies (which I hate seeing people trying to do) but I feel so bad for neglecting this blog!

I really do love blogging about my outfits and fave products as like a little online diary, so I can look back and see how my style and likes have evolved!
I also constantly go on other people blogs to get inspiration and look at reviews before I go out and purchase something.
Which is why I really do love the blogging world! Its so good to see a persons view on things rather than the company.

My reason of neglecting this blog recently is cos I'm just too poor for nice clothes and I have literally been living in gym clothes and no make up, in fact today I think was the first day when I did my everyday make up!
I've also been house sitting for two weeks which is difficult when your house is like a pet shop and your 17 year old brother thinks its okay to have his mates round and trash the place!

Due to looking after the house and doing well in my second year of University (I got a 2:1!) my parents decided to be babes and give me some spending money.
I'm really excited to go out and actually buy something instead of window shopping! My aim is to create the perfect Autumn/Winter capsule wardrobe as its my favorite season by far.
What can I say, I'm just not a Summer girl!

On my mission to create a perfect capsule wardrobe, I have listed a few items on eBay. As they say out with the old and in with the new, (however most of what I'm selling is new haha) so I'll link it below and feel free to have a nosey!

Sorry for the ramble and thank you for reading!

p.s Hope you're all enjoying the weather and the olympics!

Manicure Monday #1

Hey guys, hope you're all enjoying this gorgeous sunshine!

Just a quick post today to show of my latest nail polish, which is Essie's Fifth Avenue! I was really drawn to it cos I just love bright reds, especially on my toes but I won't show you a photo of that cos I think its a bit weird haha.

Think I'll start doing 'Manicure Monday' more often as I have just started choosing one colour to stick to every week as I usually change my nails all the time and now they are getting very weak! I've also called time on the nail art (apart from dip dye tips and love heart tips) just because I'm feeling really uninspired lately/don't have time! I need to have a look at the latest designs on the Wah Nails website for some inspiration!

What is you fave nail colour at the moment?

WISH LIST #4: Beauty Edition

1. YSL Teint Touche Eclat - I've heard so many good reviews about this, saying its a second skin and very silky, but as it cost £28 I've got a 7 day trial invitation so definitely going to give it a go before I buy it and I shall let you know how I get on.

2. Nars Laguna Bronzer -  I really want a good bronzer for 'summer' (doesn't feel like summer at all!) and this is just a classic.

3. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser - Once again I'm trying to have more summery make up and my complexion is quite clear and I rarely get spots so it would do me good to try a tinted moisturiser instead of caking my face with unessary foundation! Laura Mercier also do this tinted moisturiser in a variety of different shades and for different skin types which would defintely help my skin!

3. Lush Tea Tree Toner Water - I love changing my skin care routine all the time and I'm a bit bored of my Body Shop Vitamin E toner so I think i'll pick up this one! Plus tea tree water is great for the skin and good at preventing spots.

Have you tried any of these products? What do you reckon to them and what is on your wish list?

OOTD - Evening Aztec

Dress - Topshop

Earrings - Topshop*, Nails - Essie and Topshop's Celestial, Lips - M.A.C Lustering

 Shoes - Office*

Just like to point out that I am now nicely bronzed and have better looking hair than these photos! I took them yesterday as I knew I wouldn't have time today.

Anyway, I am going out tonight I am wearing this! Probably going to change my heels though to my 'comfy heels' (we all have a pair) just cos I know it will be one of those nights when I will be literally dancing all night (or running around being a drunken mess!).

Hope you're all good!

Illamasqua Concealer

Illamasqua Concealer 215 - £5*
Hi everyone!

I have been once again traveling the North of England again (as per) and have been to Liverpool then back home and then to Hull.

When I was in Liverpool, I came across the Illamasqua store, I have seen and heard of Illamasqua before as there is a concession in the Manchester Exchange Square Selfridges and a new concession in the Debenhams in Meadowhall, Sheffield. So, there is a heads up for anyone around Manchester/South Yorkshire.

Anyway, I have never ever bought anything from Illamasqua before and I have always wanted to do so (everyone who works there just looks amazing). At the minute they have a HUGE sale on so how could I resist a cheeky concealer worth £5 reduced from £13?!

On to the product: This shade is slightly dark for my skin as I wanted a quite warm concealer for when I fake tan/night out concealer. The sales consultant in Illamasqua said that this concealer was multi-tasking, good for obviously covering blemishes, under eye dark circles and as a eyelid primer. This concealer offers full coverage as well.

The Pros: The concealer is extremely blendable and can be worn when I get paler as well but just applied under foundation. If you want a full coverage concealer then this definitely does the job, it also does not crease under the eyes which I thought it would. Also the price £5 in the sale is definitely a pro.

The Cons: Not a very good as a eyelid primer, I found that my eyeshadow/eyeliner came off easily and also creased easily on the lids. It's also not good if you're going for a 'summer' look. This concealer would be great for winter/nights out when extra coverage is needed.

Would I buy it again? I would definitely buy it again in the sale, but for £13 probably not. I'd like to try different brands and then possibly come back to it. I am also in love with my Collection 2000 concealer which is cheaper than the sale price!

What do you think of Illamasqua? Any products you would recommend?

Peplum & Pink - OOTD

Hi guys! Hope you're well!

Firstly, I am pre apologising for these badly taken photos! I am not a photographer at all so the lighting and the angles of these are strange!

Anyway, thought to show a quick outfit of the day as I'm going out for a meal in Sheffield later to have a catch up with two friends I haven't seen in a while.

I bought this peplum top and rose jeans from Topshop the other day, and they surprisingly looked nice together, I thought it was quite a 'smart/casual' outfit that would still look smart with just flats on.

I am also shocked that this peplum top looks nice on me, as I have the biggest hips! My Mum calls them 'childbearing hips' so it always means when buying clothes I have to be careful to get my usual size or a size above.
Other peplum tops usually accentuate my hips which always made me thought that they just aren't made for me, and that they may suit women with a slimmer frame.

However, this cheeky number from Topshop skims my hips perfectly and actually flatters them!

So, women with big hips, I recommend Topshop peplum tops and stay away from ASOS (made me look massive! But would definitely suit women with a athletic frame!)

Ring- Urban Outfitters*, Necklace- Topshop*, Nails - Models Own Indian Ocean

Shoes- Dorothy Perkins*

Just realised that this outfit has a lot of Topshop, woops!

What do you think of Peplum tops?

The Breakfast Scrub by Soap and Glory

Hello! Hope you're all good!

I thought to blog about a new exfoliator today because I am a little bit obsessed with scrubbing dead skin (eww) off my body to feel super soft, especially when I've had fake tan on.
I have tried quite a few exfoliators in the past such as high street brand St Ives to a more higher end such as Guinot.

The Breakfast Scrub is a oat, shea butter and sugar body smoother with organic cupuacu (which I don't know what that is), bio scrubs, bananas, almond and honey extracts.

On to the actual product itself: My best friend who is a Beauty Therapist actually recommended this scrub to me as its quite a rough and thick scrub and you only need a little bit of product and a little bit of water for it to work (if you use it whilst the shower head is on you it won't work as well).

I've used this scrub a few times now to get my fake tan off and I can actually see the fake tan residue coming off when I was the product off.
It also smells AMAZING. It has a maple syrup fragrance and every time I open it I just want to eat it.

The Aftermath: My skin felt so soft after I used this product and my fake tan had practically all came off, I feel like that this product is the best exfoliator I have used and I looked forward to using it.

The Price: £10 which is a little bit pricier than some of the high street products such as St Ives £5, but I have a feeling it product will last a long time as I did not use as much as I did with the St Ives.

Would I buy it again?: Definitely.

What's your favourite exfoliator? What's your favourite Soap & Glory product?

P.S I would like to say thank you to Sammi (beautycrush) for her Joliebox giveaway as I won the 1 year subscription! and congratualtions to the winners of the 3 month subscription! I little too excited to get my first ever Joliebox!

P.P.S I also have a few items on eBay that are brand new with tags or only been worn a couple of times from Topshop, H&M, Motel etc check them out :)

WISH LIST #3

1. All Saints Petrel Brodie Jeans. Its 'Summer' now (even though it is raining so bad in Manchester!) so I won't be buying these yet. But how gorgeous are these jeans? I only have one pair of jeans cos I'm a bit of a American Apparel Leggings and Disco Pants girl, but I shall definitely be purchasing these when it comes closer to Autumn/Winter. Bit expensive at £85 but i'll get good wear out of them.

2. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. I'm currently on a look out for a good cleanser to replace my Body Shop Vitamin E one as I just feel like it doesn't really work on my skin anymore. The Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish seems like the one to get, as I have read lots of reviews and this seems like one of the best ones on the market. I think i'll purchase the starter kit that costs £14.25, which is a little pricey for what I'd usually spend on a cleanser but I'm willing to spend a little extra on something that works (hopefully!).

3. Cheap Frills Prince Puss Necklace, £18. How could I not like this necklace? This is definitely being purchased to fulfill my love of cats!

Festival Fashion

Hi guys, hope you're good!
So I thought to do a post on what I would wear to a festival.
I went to Parklife in Manchester two weeks ago (which was amazing) and this post is my actual outfits I wore.
I'd also like to apologise on how badly edited they are!
I took photos outside (bad choice) as it looked sunny but then the sun kept going in and out whilst taking these so they ended up either very bright or washed out.

(Oh and on these photos I'm not wearing the wellies I wore cos they are still muddy but they were just plain black ones!)

(My Cat decided she wanted to be part of these photos and btw she always looks pissed off!)

 Day 1:

Dress: ASOS
Denim Shirt: Topshop (old)
Bag: Nasty Gal
Bracelet: eBay
Nails: Celestial

Day 2:

Kimono: ASOS
Dress: American Apparel
Necklace: eBay
Sunglasses: RayBan Wayfarers
Lips: Topshop's Beguiled

What was in my bag? (Festival Essentials)
Tissues
Hand Sanitizer
Pac-a-Parka (pictured below)
Money for cider
Mac Sheer Select Powder
Chanel Chance Perfume Tester

So there is my take on what to wear to festivals, it may be not your choice but its my personal style :)
I wore tights on the first day as it was cold with my wellies, but it was important to have layers I could take off and put in my bag as some girls I saw looked freezing!

This is the Pac-A-Parka I wore:

(Couldn't get a good photo due to it being covered in mud, woops!)

A photo of me and my friends on the first day :)

What are your favorite festival fashion must haves? Are you going to any festivals this Summer?
